At the moment, we have three inter agency meetings held at different intervals on the specific issue of coastal security. These are:
(i) Coastal Security meeting :- Some times special meeting headed by the Chief Secretary, Maharastra Government is also held to discuss the common problems of the participants and solutions thereof . The said meeting is attended by the Customs, Police, NCB,DRI,Coast Guard, Navy, Maharastra Maritime Board, Dept. of Fisheries Departments etc.. The focus of the meeting is mainly on prevention of Smuggling and ascertaining the threat perception from security angle emanating from anti-social elements and smugglers from sea side.
(ii) Nodal group meeting:- The State Intelligence Department convene the Nodal group meeting on a quarterly basis at Conference Hall, First floor, State Police Headquarters, Old Council Hall, Mumbai. The meeting is attended by various law enforcement intelligence agencies such as the Customs (Prev), I.B, Police, NCB, DRI, Coast Guard, Navy, Maharashtra Maritime Board, Depptt of Fisheries etc. In the said meetings, problems related to Joint Sea Patrolling, and suggestions to develop an effective security system are discussed. Also certain information are exchanged and discussed in these meetings.
(iii) Lead intelligence agency meetings:- The Coast Guard(Western region) convenes these meetings every month as monthly intelligence sharing meetings at Conference Hall, Coast Guard Region (west), Worli Sea Face, Worli Colony, Mumbai. The said meeting is attended by the Customs M & P, Police, NCB,DRI,Coast Guard, Navy, Maharastra Maritime Board, Dept. of Fisheries Departments etc.. The focus of the meeting is mainly on prevention of Smuggling and ascertaining the threat perception from security angle emanating from anti-social elements and smugglers from sea side.
